WORKSHOPS

Raku Workshops

Raku in Japanese originally meant 'enjoyment'. It is a term which is associated with the wares made for the Zen Buddhists tea ceremony.  However in the West, especially in the last 40 years, it has become a generic term used by potters to describe smoke fired ceramic techniques. This is a very exciting process, which creates random cracking, reduction and smoking. I like to run raku days for small groups as these transformative processes are a great way to experience ceramics in the making.

Clay workshops update

Since Covid times: Currently I am no longer offering workshops and classes and will no longer be running Raku from organicARTS.

I hope to continue in the future to offer clay and art sessions as outreach with different groups, including people with mental health difficulties, dementia, and recovery groups and to work with other organisations such as Museums, and local Charities etc.

Lucy has been involved with organicArts setting up a pottery using local clay. She collaborates with other artists to deliver larger community projects such as Mosaics.

For current public workshops please look at calendar 2023
